kingsurf gets in the daily mail and the independant.

The following day, it's wet again, but that doesn't matter. On a trip to Mawgan Porth, surf dude Pete, of King Surf, gives us a lesson. Having tried surfing before, I know his efforts are doomed, but it's great fun. The culinary stakes are raised again with a delicious lunch at Fifteen.

Home-time dawns, but not before we walk the dog one last time at Mawgan Porth and hole up in the cafe for one last mug of tea. Yes, it still rains in Cornwall, but I won't leave it another ten years to return.

Despite my incompetence, our sojourn provided the most fun that we've had in a very long time. Surfing (or even just trying to) doesn't half get you fit, and it's exhilarating to spend so much time in the sea, even if you do end up drinking most of it. And if your teacher is the effervescent Pete Abell, owner of Kingsurf at Mawgan Porth (01637 860091; kingsurf.co.uk), you'll end up with kids with serious surfing addictions.
