The following day, it's wet again, but that doesn't matter. On a trip to Mawgan Porth, surf dude Pete, of King Surf, gives us a lesson. Having tried surfing before, I know his efforts are doomed, but it's great fun. The culinary stakes are raised again with a delicious lunch at Fifteen.

Home-time dawns, but not before we walk the dog one last time at Mawgan Porth and hole up in the cafe for one last mug of tea. Yes, it still rains in Cornwall, but I won't leave it another ten years to return.

Despite my incompetence, our sojourn provided the most fun that we've had in a very long time. Surfing (or even just trying to) doesn't half get you fit, and it's exhilarating to spend so much time in the sea, even if you do end up drinking most of it. And if your teacher is the effervescent Pete Abell, owner of Kingsurf at Mawgan Porth (01637 860091; kingsurf.co.uk), you'll end up with kids with serious surfing addictions.

Betty's Surf Shop

Betty's Surf Shop is back in action from the beginning of April. The premier surf shop in Mawgan Porth is now full of the new 2009 stock including wetsuits and all the necessary surfing accessories from C Skins, Alder, Kustom, Urban Beach .... to name a few. In conjunction once again with King Surf school they will be providing the finest service and surf orientated experience you will need. Epoxy surf board packages will be available including board, bag, leash and wax starting from as little as £250 for the whole deal. Don't miss out, pop along and see them.

Come skiing with us!

After spending a number of winters working in the alps the kingsurf team our now offering ski trips to a number of resorts in the French Alps. We will be working together with some of the smaller chalet company's to provide transfers, self catering accommodation and guided tours of the mountains.

Their back!

Summer's on it's way! Kingsurf is glad to confirm that the 2008 team are all coming back for another summer of fun. 

Tom has been away coaching in Fuerteventura this winter whilst Pete and Scuba have braved a winter in Cornwall with a couple of ski and surf trips in-between. 

The surf has been really good  despite the cold water and the snow this winter.I have also seen a few great long term weather forecasts for this summer so we should get the sunny summer that we have all been waiting for!

			Pete Abell, Kingsurf's new owner, has just graduated from University with a BA Hons in Sport & Recreation Management, a HND in Watersports Activity Management and a National Diploma in Outdoor Leisure Management. Pete has worked as an instructor for the last 7 years and has now taken over Kingsurf with a spark of youthful enthusiasm.

Pre booking 3 days prior is essential as we can only cater for 10 children per instructor

The price per session will be £5
(Which covers use of boards/wetsuits, instructor costs insurance and general certificates etc)

The purpose of the club is to bring local children together to socialize and interact whilst improving their surfing skills and water competency. All children will be given a beach safety talk and awarded a junior surf patrol certificate by the lifeguard/head instructor.
If conditions are deemed as intolerable beach games such as volleyball, beach football and general surf fitness activities will take place.

All instructors are CRB checked and obtain the relevant British Surfing Association, Beach Lifeguard qualifications and Community sports leader award. Our insurance will only cover us for children over the age of 8. All abilities of surfer welcome from complete beginners to advanced. All equipment will be provided, all you need to bring is a towel.
